High school graduation week upon us in Coweta

Over 1,500 seniors are expected to graduate in commencement ceremonies held May 24, 25 and 26 at Coweta’s three high schools.

Baccalaureate programs for graduating high school seniors will be held on Sunday, May 20 at several locations around the county, and honors and commencement ceremonies will be held Wednesday through Saturday of the last week of school.

The Coweta County School System’s academic year officially ends on Friday, May 25.

The Central Educational Center will honor students in a Dual Enrollment Graduation ceremony on Wednesday, May 23, at 7:00 p.m., at the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts.

Over 100 students from all three Coweta County high schools are expected to participate in the recognition of certificate-earners at Wednesday night’s ceremonies. Coweta Superintendent Dr. Steve Barker will be the keynote speaker at the Wednesday event.

This year’s high school ceremonies include:

Northgate High School’s Baccalaureate ceremony will be held Sunday, May 20, at 2:00 p.m., at Crossroads Church in Sharpsburg.

Northgate will be the county’s first 2012 Commencement ceremony, held on Thursday, May 24 at 7:30 p.m., at Henry Seldon Field (Johnny Brown Gymnasium in case of rain). Valedictorian Elizabeth Domzalski and Salutatorian Anna Adams will be among 420 NGHS students expected to graduate that night.

Newnan High School’s Baccalaureate ceremony will be held Sunday, May 20, at 2:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church of Newnan.

Newnan High’s Commencement ceremony will be held on Friday, May 25 at 7:30 p.m., Drake Stadium (Bass Gymnasium in case of rain). Valedictorian Laura Lambert and Salutatorian Mary Brooks Gallagher will be among 540 NHS students expected to graduate that night.

East Coweta High School’s Baccalaureate ceremony will be held Sunday, May 20, at 2:00 p.m., at the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts.

East Coweta High’s Commencement ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 26, at 9:00 a.m., at Shoemake Stadium (Thrower Gymnasium in case of rain). Valedictorian Elizabeth Evans and Salutatorian Anabel Liyen Cartelle will be among 580 ECHS students expected to graduate that night.
